We use our kitchen door the most in the house. That’s where our visitors come in. That’s the door all the neighborhood kids come in and out of. When I {finally} took down the Christmas wreath off that back door, it felt really naked. Plain white door. I decided to do something Valentine-y. I was going to make another ribbon wreath {pics coming soon, but similar to this one}, but I knew I would never get it done in a timely manner. Timely manner being sharing a Valentine wreath before Valentine’s Day 
So…I thought about it and I decided on a hodge podge of different ideas. First I covered a green foam wreath with grosgrain ribbon. {just like the first step in Tatertots & Jello’s wreath tutuorial} Then I remembered Pamela Donnis’ great tutorial on the felt flowers she made. If you’ve ever seen her work, the woman knows what to do with felt! I made up a few felt blooms using her tutorial in different colors and sizes. Pam says to the felt shapes don’t have to be perfect…I made a little cardboard guide to go by, ’cause I’m just not a freestyle kinda person. But she was right, after a little while I was wingin’ it and it didn’t matter a bit. I’m so pleased with how they turned out that I’m making more…maybe hairclips or a cute pin for my coat or hat? I wanted to add some ribbon leaves. And, of course, I had to add some polka dots. {favorite things…ribbon and polka dots} The quick tutorial for the leaves is below.
I’m sure there is a better way to make ribbon leaves. But I made this up as I went along and it worked, so I’m sticking with it…for now. I cut pieces of ribbon (two sizes, two colors) to about 6 inches in length. Then I folded the ribbon, right sides together, in half. I stitched with my machine (could totally hand do this) up one side and then diagonally across the bottom. Turn the ribbon right sides out and shape into a leaf.
